...I retired from work in September 2011, now I had the opportunity to improve my photographic skills. At around that same time, two qualified photography friends had launched their new business, The South West Photography School, where I could play and learn anything to do with photography. What fun!

As one of the first students at the school, I was encouraged to work towards a distinction and to achieve the standard required to be a Licentiate of the RPS.

I have achieved my goal: I am now a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society. It has been a fascinating and rewarding journey for me: my panel of 10 bold images, which can be viewed here, includes abstracts and reflections, the two subjects that I am drawn to the most.

Sue writes;

“It was the 12th of June 2013, a sunny day in Bath and I had arrived with my carefully packed portfolio of 10 photographic images.

My husband was more nervous than me, not that I was overconfident that my photographs were of the standard required by the Royal Photographic Society; it was that I had successfully mastered the art of how to stay calm. I had decided that if the seven senior panel members of the RPS were not impressed with my portfolio, at least I was happy to view my images feeling more like a photographer and not just someone who likes to take photographs…

They (Graham and Lynn) have been delighted with my success and are already encouraging me to develop my skills further and to inspire others around me to develop their own photography skills. I would encourage anyone who has a passion for Cornwall and a desire to produce stunning photographs to explore their creative skills with guidance from the South West Photography School....”
